The short version: There are no affiliate links on the site today. If any appear, they are marked, they never cost you more, and a commission never buys a recommendation.
Running Stitch Obsession costs money — hosting, yarn, and a great deal of time. None of that is charged to you, and no pattern is ever put behind a payment. This page explains the one way the site may cover its costs, and it is written now rather than after the fact so there is nothing to discover later.
What is on the site today
At the time of the date at the top of this page, Stitch Obsession carries no affiliate links and no advertising. Every link on the site points either to another page here or to something genuinely useful, with nothing earned either way.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a shop that carries a tag identifying where the visitor came from. If you follow one and buy something, the shop pays a small commission out of its own margin. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway — there is no surcharge, and the price is not raised to cover it.
Our promise about them
If affiliate links do appear here, three things hold:
- They will be for yarn, hooks and tools Ruby would reach for on her own table. If it would not earn a place in the basket, it does not get a link, whatever the commission.
- They will be clearly marked where they appear, not slipped into the middle of a round.
- A commission will never change what a pattern says, what is recommended, or the order things are listed in.
Your trust is worth more than a few cents, and a site that gives its patterns away has very little else to trade on.
The programmes we may take part in
Stitch Obsession may participate in the Amazon Associates programme and in similar affiliate programmes run by yarn and craft retailers. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
Following such a link tells the retailer that you arrived from this site. It does not tell us who you are, what you bought, or anything else about you — we see only a total, long after the fact. The privacy policy covers the rest.
Advertising
There is no advertising on Stitch Obsession today. If any is ever introduced, this page and the cookie policy will both be updated first, and the network will be named.
